Economic & Environmental Impact Report
Golf occupies a critical place within the state of New York. The sport provides fitness, recreation, and time spent outdoors. It also drives economic impact and environmental stewardship. New York’s 833 golf courses are a defining economic driver through golf-related tourism, retail spending, increased residential real estate value, industry jobs, supply chain impacts, and charitable giving. From an environmental perspective, golf provides valuable ecosystem services for New York — from greenspace and urban cooling to surface water filtration, flood mitigation, and wildlife habitats. This report shares the economic and environmental impacts from golf for the state of New York.
This 2025 New York Golf Economic & Environmental Impact Study was conducted by Radius Sports Group, a sports and sustainability consulting firm and independent third party, in agreement with the New York Golf Course Foundation and Empire State Golf Alliance, with additional collaboration from Cornell University.
